Homemaking/ Make Over Your Mornings

Why Make Over Your Mornings? {MOYM Day 1} + New Year New You Giveaway!!

Why do you need to make over your mornings? To be more productive? To have less stress? Find out what the point is for using our mornings wisely.

Yay! It’s time for us to make over our mornings together! I am so excited to jump into this with you guys!

Day one is all about figuring out why you are doing this course in the first place. Determining your why will keep you motivated to stay the course when the going gets rough. At some point we all will come back to our why. Whether it is during this 14 day course or in 2 months when we have fallen off the bandwagon and need to get back on.

We aren’t making over our mornings just to get more things checked off our to do list. That is not the end goal. At least it shouldn’t be. Yes, waking up earlier or being more intentional about your morning time will propel you forward to being more productive to get things done BUT it shouldn’t be our primary goal.

“Making over your morning is simply a way to ensure you have more time and energy for the things that matter most.” -MYOM Workbook, page 5

The reason behind doing this is so that we can become more intentional about making time for the things that matter most to you. If you’ve let your family time slip away because you’re over committed, or you’ve stopped reading with your kids because you have a full plate right now, or you aren’t doing anything that replenishes your own soul because you’re constantly pouring into others then making over your mornings will help you find the time for those things that matter most. Our long to do list isn’t what should drive us every day. Checking things off a list shouldn’t bring more satisfaction into our lives than connecting with our children.

Making over our mornings is going to help us figure out what matters most in life to us and work towards making those things a priority in our lives. Finding time for them and being intentional about making time and then sticking to that plan.

If we love reading, than we should be making time for reading. If we love writing we should be making time for writing or sewing, crocheting, exercise, whatever it is. We need to think about what we’ve set aside for our children needs and pick those back up again. We need to fill ourselves up in order to pour out.

Why do you need to make over your mornings? To be more productive? To have less stress? Find out what the point is for using our mornings wisely.

If we are always loosing our cool with the kids, never connecting with them throughout the day, have a haphazardly run homeschool, or unruly kids running the home than we need to get our priorities in order and start tackling these areas to get the house under control. It is amazing what a difference it makes in our children’s behavior when Mama is plugged into them. The days are long but the years are short so let’s not waste this precious time that we have our children with us every day.

If we are never making time for our husbands, if we are always cleaning up after the kids, doing laundry, dishes or going out with the gals but we are never making time for our man than we have some priority readjustments to do. Our marriages are fundamental to having a strong family. We need to make sure that we are connecting with our husbands and not always being too tired or frazzled to date them.

As the women of our house, we set the tone and atmosphere of the home. If we are always behind, always playing catch up, always giving of ourselves to our families without filling ourselves up or making time to be with Jesus than we are not going to be setting a very pleasant tone.

Instead we will be setting a tone of crankiness, frustration and annoyance. You know what I mean, those mornings when everyone needs 5 million things before you even go to the bathroom for the day. Those mornings when your kids are filled with extra energy and seemed to be bouncing off the walls before you’ve even tasted your first sip of coffee. Yeah, those mornings.

When all of our mornings are looking this way, when every day we put our quiet time on the back burner then all of our days are going to be filled with chaos and grumpiness. Let’s be honest.

It’s a hard cycle to break but we can break it.

We are making over our mornings so that we can control our days, filling them with what matters most to us, and ultimately we will be controlling the direction of our lives.

Today’s project: Decide on a time every day for the next 2 weeks to do this course. Remember, if we aren’t intentional about it than we wont make it happen.

I am committed to do the course at nap time!

For me, a successful year is when I feel content in everything that I’ve attained so far. Sometimes, I may not be able to complete my goal. But, as long as I put my efforts in it, and get closed to my goal, it means more than anything. It means that I tried, it means that my goal is always my priority, it means that I am serious in whatever I want to do. People may think differently at us, for not being to achieve our goal. But it’s okay. All those negativity are the one that are going to make us stronger and tougher.

True! Few bad things happened to me back in 2015. I was planning to further my first degree in UK, I was even offered a place by Swansea University but unfortunately I couldn’t go there due to financial problem. People said I was a loser, I wasn’t bright or qualified enough to further my study there, but they didn’t know the real issue. I went to many government sector in Malaysia that offer scholarship, just to try my luck, I went to a few private companies as well, but I wasn’t lucky enough, maybe. Last year, rate of Malaysian Ringgit drop drastically making our government couldn’t send students oversea. But I am proud of myself. Like I said, even though I didn’t achieved my goal, but at least I was closed to it. 🙂

What I love about this course that it isn’t a push to get women to wake up early. I am not a good sleeper so most days getting up really early isn’t doable for me either (and my kidsare sleeping through the night!). So my morning routine starts when I wake up, whenever that may be! It is more about being purposeful with your morning hours.

A successful year is one in which I don’t spend hundreds buying makeup (oh whose kidding with ipsy, birchbox, and everything else I always go a little overboard). Seriously though I need to be more organized and be less forgetful.

I consider a successful year a year when I get to visit with family lots, my kids havent killed themselves, and when I’ve accomplished allot in the year!
