“We have considered it but decided to decline it. Thank you for sending it to us and please keep us in mind in the future!”
This was a rejection email I received over the summer.
Funny how a post written here was a success on my platform and shared thousands of times on social media but wasn’t good enough for this platform.
That’s all I heard as I read that email. That’s all I told myself inside my own head.
Can I just say that this blogging thing isn’t always easy? Fear, discouragement, and anxiety threaten to stop each post before I hit publish. Fear of rejection and failure is a powerful force. It’s powerful enough to make us all quit, to throw up our hands and say “I can’t do this! It’s too hard. It’s too scary.”
But we can’t let the words of others or the fear of rejection holds us back. We need to keep getting up, keep pressing on towards our goals.
Will it be easy? Probably not. But will it be worth it? Yes!
Ifeoma, like many of us, has gone through failures and rejection. She freely shares her experience with dealing rejection and getting past it.
She walks you through the steps that you need to make in overcoming failure. When you read someone’s else story, knowing that you are not alone and seeing how they did, in fact, get back on their feet is what you need to fuel your own success in getting back on your feet. I simply love Ifeoma’s heart and her honesty in sharing her own story.
Overcome Failure is a simple book that walks you through 16 steps, each chapter ending in digging deeper portion filled with more Scripture verses to look up and questions to ask yourself. She doesn’t just give you flowery how-to’s but she makes you take a deeper look at yourself.
If you struggle with letting negative people speak into your life and letting what they say influence how you live, then you need to read this book. Ifeoma gracefully reminds us to not let these negative people or words influence us.
Don’t give in to sell yourself short by accepting these words. God is not done with you. He’s just getting started. p.55
Once we change how we let people speak into our lives, once we change our thought patterns and how we react to rejection is when we will start to break the chains of failure in our lives and start to achieve our goals.
Are you ready to start overcoming failure and get back on your feet? Then I highly suggest picking up a copy of Ifeoma’s new book!
You see, I needed to walk away from that sting of rejection the day I received that email. It didn’t define me, my blog or the success or failure of that post I submitted. I needed to focus on what I knew was truth. That post did do very well, resonated with women and was shared thousands of times on social media. It wasn’t a failure, I am not a failure. That is what I needed to think about and then I needed to brush off my feet and keep typing away here at the blog. If I let one rejection stop me than what does that say about me?
