4 Things that Sparked Joy

Check out what sparked joy in my life this week as I make a journey for joy this year.

This year I am on a journey for joy. You can read more about how this journey got started here.

Lacking joy? I’d love for you to join me on the journey for joy?

So, what sparked joy for me this week?

  1. My husband sparked joy for this week {again}. He had more time off than usual to allow him to run his first 15k. I was so proud and excited for him, he ran the race and basically hit his goal time despite a sore back and snowy cold weather conditions. He trained more a few months and it was exciting to see him complete the race! He’s awesome. He was also able to attend a church Missions Carnival with the kids and I. I’ve done these events on my own with the kids for years and it was kind of strange to have him along for the journey with us.
  2. Our kids getting older. Usually, that doesn’t spark joy for me, ha! But this weekend at the carnival it was fun to see our oldest want to run ahead with his friends and go play the games at his own pace with his peers. It made me smile to see him second guess himself about running ahead and then to see the joy on his face when I told him to run along, that it was fine. Before I know it, he’ll be a teenager not looking back at mom for assurance so I’ll soak it up while I can.
  3. Chai Tea! I was forced to give up coffee due to my kidney disease and it has been the huge struggle. Not only am I addicted to my morning cup of Joe but I lovvvvvve my coffee. Any coffee drinker can relate. So it’s been hard. I’ve been experimenting with some different noncaffeinated teas and I’m loving the chai with some half and half. It’s brought some joy while I mourn my coffee.
  4. I started the 21 Day Fix! While the muscle soreness and low carb diet is not sparking joy, I’m excited about the potential of losing a little bit of weight. I’m hoping that by trying something new and different that it’ll spark some weight loss. I never knew it could be so hard to lose 5lbs. I was super excited on mail day when all the goodies arrived! The kids are loving helping me cross off which containers I have eaten. They are being my little accountability partners, I love it {I need it!}
