This year I am on a journey for joy. You can read more about how this journey got started here.
Lacking joy? I’d love for you to join me on the journey for joy?
So, what sparked joy for me this week?
This week was a hard week, you see I injured my foot somehow on a 2-mile walk with my kids. Albeit I was wearing flip flops, but I’ve done that a million times! The pain got so intense I went to get it looked at on day 3 but they wouldn’t x-ray it since there was no obvious trauma to the foot (like falling on it). They said it would need better imaging like an MRI if it kept up. They gave me pain medicine for it since I can’t take ibuprofen due to my kidney disease and then sent me on my merry way. That was not the outcome I expected as I exposed all my kids to the people with the flu in the waiting room.
So needless to say, I found it hard to see much joy while having to watch my house become a mess and getting no workouts done in a week and still gimping along on a sore foot a week later. But alas I shall try because this is the journey for joy, isn’t it?
- My Little Guy. This boy is just the sweetest thing that every graced this earth. If he’s not fighting with me, being the strong willed one that he is, he is giving me so much love and sweet words. He would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He is constantly loving on someone. He’s a hugger and snuggler. This week he has showered me in love over my foot. He’s always rubbing it, asking if it feels any better, asking me if he can get me anything. And best of all, he’s constantly praying for my foot to feel better. At meals, at bedtime and even one afternoon he says “I’m not going to read during quiet time, I’m going to pray the whole time for your foot to feel better.” Heaven help me, this boy melts my heart. He’s just the sweetest thing, isn’t he?! He brought me so much joy this week!
- A foot massage. The doctor said a foot massage could help my foot heal faster, he even offered to write it down on a prescription sheet to give to my husband. My sweet husband gave me a foot massage that night and it was very relaxing after a long day of being in so much pain. It’s the little things in life that spark joy deep down, isn’t it?
- Finishing up a big blog project! Over the last month or more, I’ve been working on a new blog project – the Fruits of the Spirit Bible study guide – which will have launched by the time this post goes live. I’ve got all the posts written and the guide formatted for downloading this week and it feels good to be DONE!
- Our second grade curriculum arrived from My Father’s World. Now in all honesty, I couldn’t tell you if it was dread or joy, ha! But it was fun thumbing through everything and thinking about all the fun we should be having this time next year. First grade has been a drag, there is just so much stinkin phonics and not enough fun. We miss the fun of kindergarten – although I am still going through it with Little Guy there just isn’t enough time in the day for all the fun we had last year with it. Second grade looks like they brought back a lot of the fun and for that I have some joy!
What sparked joy in your life this week?
