This year I am on a journey for joy. You can read more about how this journey got started here.
Lacking joy? I’d love for you to join me on the journey for joy?
So, what sparked joy for me this week?
- Easter Sunday! I just love Easter! We dyed eggs, had our egg hunt and enjoyed some delicious food! The family matched in hot pink and gold this year. It was an atypical Easter for us, while we stuck to our traditions they were all a little off and different this year which made the day seem off. I gave up by the end of the day, ha! I love watching the kids enjoy their egg hunt each year! This year we made the egg hunt more challenging since the boys are older. That made it even more fun for us to watch.
- Swim lessons. This week the kids all had free swim lessons at our local YMCA. It’s the first time that we’ve participated in them, I either miss the registration or my husband veto’s the idea (usually both!). But this year we went and it was a busy week! It was so hard to watch our Little Guy struggle with the lessons. He’s terrified of the water, he has even grown to be afraid of the bath water. None of which makes much sense but his fear was through the roof. He cried and cling to the coach the entire first class. I felt so bad for her (and him!). But she was so great with him, she was calm and unmoved by his theatrics. She went at his pace and gradually got him comfortable in the water and only pushing him past his comfort level towards the end of the week. By the last day, he was smiling and doing the things she asked him to do. It was great to see him move past that fear. After seeing all the kids’ lack of skills in the water we ended up going the YMCA and signing them up for private lessons. I definitely want them to have water skills, they’re invaluable. We start in a couple weeks! Thankfully they are evening classes! We are not morning people!3.Ebb Tide. My mother in law pre-ordered me Beverly Lewis’ new book for my birthday. Once it released I couldn’t wait for it to arrive. And so far it’s just as awesome as all her other books. I am obsessed with them!4.Getting back outside for my morning walks. I’ve missed my walks this winter! When I can, I love to walk my 3 miles outdoors. There is something about the quietness of the outdoors in the morning that makes the mornings start off on the right foot. I love to go out get some exercise and be alone with my thoughts each morning.
