How to be a Smiling Wife

Did you know that men are highly attracted to smiling women? If that's the case, than why aren't more wives smiling at their man? Learn how being a smiling wife can change your marriage!

Smiling. It’s the universal sign of happiness.

“For the joy of the Lord is your strength.” Nehemiah‬ ‭8‬:‭10‬b.

Joy produces smiles. As women, we need as much strength from the Lord as we can get. If we aren’t careful, we can let the demands of life suck out all the joy we have and leave us frowning instead of smiling.

It’s a fact that men find women more attractive when they’re smiling.

I know when we were dating, my man would always tell me what a beautiful smile I had. He would write me love notes and tell me how much he loved my smile.  It only made me want to smile more! I was enthralled with him, he could do nothing wrong. It was easy to smile for him then.

But then life happens. Our expectations of this man we married usually fall short of our reality.

He says unkind words. Gets angry with us or the children. Leaves his dirty clothes around the house for us to pick up after him.

Then life’s trials happen. Health problems. The financial pressures hit. Difficult in-laws. You name it.

The joy diminishes and the smiles begin to fade.

That doesn’t sound like a fun wife to live with! Men wonder where the happy, smiling girl that they married went.

If we aren’t drawing our strength from the Lord we will soon find ourselves beaten down with no joy left inside. With no smiles left to offer him.

Wives, we don’t have stay in this spot. We have control!  A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken. Proverbs‬ ‭15‬:‭13

Heavenly Marriage

How to be a Smiling Wife

That’s right, it’s an easy start. Just forcing yourself to smile can boost your mood instantly.

Purposefully giggle, laugh and be cheerful throughout the day.

Smile at your man as often as you can!

Get rid of the high expectations for your man.

Nothing can kill a happy marriage faster than an unhappy wife who holds her man to a standard that only God can fill in her life. He is human. He will let you down. He needs grace, just like we wives do!

Be lovely.

Men are attracted to the vulnerability in women. Be flirtatious throughout the day. Remind him of why you love him.

Be thankful.

Being thankful lightens life’s burdens. Don’t focus on the negative all day and you’ll get your joy back.

Men need to hear praise and adoration. He needs to know you’re thankful for how he’s providing. This builds him up and encourages him.

Draw your strength from the Lord.

You can’t get through life in your own strength. Spend time with Him every day.

The day you stop smiling is the day you stop trying the make your marriage heavenly. Studies show that women smile more than men. So let’s do our part ladies, and start smiling more at our men!

I often wonder how my children will remember my face in years to come. Will it be with a smile? Or will they remember that hurry and worry line between my eyes?
    Thanks for this thought-provoking post!

I think the same way! When we are old, the lines on our faces will give away what kind of life we led. Thanks for stopping by!

It truly is about the small things like “smiling” that can not only encourage our mates but us as well, Anastasia. The more I smile, the more I feel joyful. Funny how that works! Oh, and “funny” works too–that’s something I try to do in my marriage. Inject a bit of humor in the right moments–making my man smile as well. Thanks for your insight and encouragement to us all. You made me smile!
