Holiness isn’t the easy road, is it?
You can’t just will yourself to be holy. You have to work for it day in and day out.
You need to create your own holy habits that will shape your life as you pursue holiness.
It’s a conscious effort each and every day to deny ourselves.
For the last few months, we have dissected each and every one of these habits. We’ve taken a closer look at how they affect our lives, how they steer us towards holiness. And most of all how they are non-negotiable in this Christian life. Each one is a habit that forms over time. We can’t just wake up one day mastering each one, it’s a journey. Slow and steady progress towards the mark. If you try to do them all perfectly all the time you are only setting yourself up for failure.
Give yourself grace as you pursue holiness. But make it a goal of yours. Why?
We are called to be holy, to pursue holiness.
1 Peter 1:15-16 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy. (emphasis added)
Do you see what a big deal it is? Are you ready to make holiness a priority in your life? How do you want your life to turn out in 10 years? 15 or even 20 years? You have some control over where you’ll end up. Are you willing to put in the work or are you going to take the easy road and hope things end well? If you don’t take the time to plan you are planning to fail. Let’s go against modern culture, even the contemporary Christianity and pursue holiness.
