Can I just say that my Grandmother knows how to cook?! And bake! Everyone in the family always wants Grandma’s recipes because they are just so much better than any other recipe you can find on Pinterest.
I don’t even like bananas but I love my Grandma’s banana bread recipe. I’m talking I can’t even stand to peel a banana or be next to someone who is. To me, they are the worst smelling and textured fruit on the planet. But there is something about this recipe that makes me want to it up the entire loaf!
You haven’t had good banana bread until you’ve tried this recipe!
Grandma’s Banana Bread Recipe
2 | c | flour |
1 | tsp | baking powder |
1⁄2 | tsp | baking soda |
1 | tsp | salt |
1⁄2 | c | shortening |
1 | c | sugar |
2 | eggs | |
1 | c | mashed bananas |
Cream together shortening and sugar.
Blend in 1 egg at a time. beat well.
Add mashed bananas.
Blend in dry ingredients.
Pour into greased loaf pan.
Push batter up into corners of the pan leaving center slightly hollowed.
For a well-rounded loaf, allow to stand for 20 minutes before baking.
Bake at 350 for 50-60 minutes.
Cool thoroughly before slicing.
